Chapters

Every APA member belongs to a local chapter. Chapter membership involves you close to home, sharing experiences with colleagues, expanding your network, keeping you up to date on local and regional issues, and broadening your perspective beyond your office, commission, community, or campus.

If you would like to be a member of APA Delaware, but not a member of APA National, please complete this form: http://www.planning.org/join/pdf/memberform.pdf. Completed forms, and payments, should be submitted to APA National per the instructions found on form. Do not send them to the Delaware Chapter!

Chapter only memberships vary, so check the APA National Web site on specific dues, while student memberships are free. If you have questions please contact Bill Swiatek, Membership Committee chair, at: bswiatek@wilmapco.org. If you have AICP designation and/or belong to APA National, you must pay your Delaware dues through the membership page at the National APA web site.

Join APA National today!

Forms and payments should be sent to:

APA Membership Benefits

When you join APA, you join thousands of planners, officials, educators, students, and others who have made a personal commitment to making great communities happen. Membership in the APA community also includes many tangible benefits.

Publications

Members also receive APA Interact, an electronic newsletter. Read APA Interact to keep up with association news and benefits, learn about opportunities to participate, and find links to interesting and useful resources on our website. There are special editions of APA Interact for students and certified planners.

APA membership includes our flagship magazine, Planning, the best source of news on contemporary planning practice. Only APA members have access to an enhanced, online version of Planning, with more content and links to additional resources.

Members get special deals on other APA print and online publications:

  • All members save on subscriptions to the Journal of the American Planning Association. Student members get an extra discount.
  • Planning board members receive The Commissioner. Other members pay only $25.
  • Student members receive The New Planner.
  • AICP members receive Practicing Planner.

Divisions

Share a special interest by joining an APA division. Most divisions are online communities, sharing news and viewpoints through web-based discussions and publications. Members come together and keep the rest of APA up-to-date on their specialties by sponsoring sessions at the annual national planning conference. APA members pay nominal additional dues for division memberships.

Educational Opportunities

APA is an independent, not-for-profit educational organization.

Get a substantial discount on registration for planning’s premier educational and networking event: APA’s National Planning Conference, held every spring in a major U.S. city. Join thousands of planners and other professionals, local officials, students, and others to learn the latest in planning at sessions, workshops, and explorations of the host city.

Use your membership to save on more educational opportunities throughout the year: chapter conferences, Planners Training Service workshops, audio/web conferences, the Federal Policy & Program Briefing, international study tours, the L’Enfant Lecture on City Planning and Design, and many others.
